ʙᴀᴄᴋꜱᴛᴏʀʏ
Born to the legendary assassin Amon Jo and an unnamed Icelandic woman (whom he met in one of his training trips), Marin was raised within the unforgiving traditions of the Amon Clan. From the moment she could walk, her childhood became one of relentless discipline, every lesson designed to mold her into the perfect successor. She dedicated herself wholly to her father's teachings, chasing a single, unattainable dream: earning his approval. Every victory, every scar, and every hour of training was offered in the hope that one day she would be acknowledged not merely as his disciple, but as his daughter. Her efforts were not in vain. Among Jo's students, Marin proved herself the most gifted, mastering the clan's techniques with exceptional skill and unwavering determination.
At the age of sixteen, she was entrusted with what was meant to be her first assassination. Instead, it became the defining moment that shattered everything she had devoted her life to. Her target was a fourteen-year-old girl who, paradoxically, had commissioned the hit on herself. The child was the daughter of the Mangetsu Clan's leader, a fanatical organization whose cruelty surpassed even that of the Amon Clan. Raised to believe she was the earthly incarnation of Tsukuyomi, she had grown up viewing ordinary people as disposable beneath a divine being. Yet, upon confronting the truth of her own humanity, the weight of her actions became unbearable. Consumed by guilt, she sought death as her only form of atonement.Marin refused to become the instrument of that despair. Defying the mission she had been given, she rescued the girl from the Mangetsu Clan's influence, helping her disappear and ultimately find a new life under the protection of a compassionate yakuza patriarch. It was an act of mercy that cost Marin everything. Amon Jo, seeing only failure and betrayal, stripped her of her place within the clan and cast her into exile without hesitation. Years of tireless devotion, countless sacrifices, and a lifetime spent seeking his love were discarded in an instant. Her exile eventually led her to Airi Amon, her estranged cousin and daughter of Jo's older brother, Ko, who had abandoned the clan years earlier after choosing love over its traditions. By then, Airi had already begun forging her infamous reputation as Shinigami, a vigilante assassin feared throughout Japan for hunting those beyond the reach of justice. Unlike Jo, Airi welcomed Marin without conditions. She became both mentor and family, refining her combat abilities while giving her the compassion and sense of belonging she had spent her entire life searching for.In 2016, after years spent walking the path of an assassin, Airi made the unexpected decision to retire. Determined to leave behind a life defined solely by bloodshed, she founded Higanbana, an all-female organization of highly skilled fixers who accepted the jobs others either could not or would not handle. Marin followed her without hesitation, becoming one of Higanbana's core members. Though her hands still carried the skills of an assassin, they were no longer bound to a father's impossible expectations, but guided instead by the family she had finally chosen for herself.

ʙᴀᴄᴋꜱᴛᴏʀʏ
Yuki Tenryu was born from nothing more than a mistake. Her mother, a Jingweon spy, had been sent to gather information on Hōryūin Shiki, chairman of the Hōryū Clan, the largest yakuza organization in the Chubu region with its headquarters in Shizuoka. The mission quickly lost its purpose. Realizing Shiki had no valuable information for the Jingweon, she decided to enjoy the encounter instead. Before leaving, she stole one of his most prized possessions: a platinum signet ring adorned with a large ruby set within the frame of a dragon. Only later did she discover that their brief encounter had left her pregnant. By the time she realized it, it was too late to end the pregnancy.
That child was Yuki.Born with albinism, Yuki entered a world that rejected her from the very beginning. Her mother wanted nothing to do with her and abandoned her in the care of her own parents in a quiet rural village. It was a lonely place where nothing ever seemed to change. Whenever her mother returned, she treated Yuki with resentment, and more than once that resentment became abuse. Life outside the house was no kinder. The villagers feared what they didn't understand. Her pale skin, white hair, and crimson eyes made her the target of endless rumors. They called her akuma no ko, the child of the devil. At school, the bullying grew worse with every passing year. Teachers turned a blind eye, while some adults quietly encouraged it. Even her grandparents never truly stood by her. To them, she was little more than an obligation they had never wanted.Everything changed when Yuki was sixteen. She met a retired soldier who saw not a cursed child, but a frightened girl trying to survive. He began teaching her taekwondo, believing that everyone deserved the ability to defend themselves. Yuki threw herself into the training with everything she had. Months of relentless practice strengthened both her body and her confidence, until she was finally capable of standing her ground. Unfortunately, the bullying had already reached a breaking point. One day, what began as another act of harassment turned into an attack that threatened her life. Terrified and cornered, Yuki fought back with everything she had learned. She overpowered the leader of her tormentors, leaving them permanently crippled. Blinded by years of fear and hatred, she nearly went even further. Her teacher stopped her. Without hesitation, he took Yuki away from the village before her life could be destroyed forever. That day, Yuki learned something that frightened her more than the people who had hurt her. She was afraid of the hatred inside herself. Rather than letting it consume her, she made a choice that would define the rest of her life. She chose kindness. Not ordinary kindness, but the unrealistic kind. She refused to judge others before giving them a chance. She looked for the good in people even when they struggled to see it in themselves. She helped strangers without asking what they had done to deserve it, believing that compassion should never depend on someone's past. In time, that compassion led her to take in a young girl whose life had been destroyed by the Jingweon. Yuki became her adoptive older sister, teaching her everything she knew, from self-defense to the simple belief that a painful past did not have to decide the future. The two girls became mercenaries with the veteran and grew into a fearsome trio known in the underworld as Cerberus (due to the 3 heads)Years later, fate brought Yuki to Airi. The two first met when several people mocked Yuki because of her albinism. Before Yuki could even react, Airi stepped in and defended her without a second thought. It was such a simple act, yet it meant more to Yuki than anyone realized. For the first time in years, someone had stood beside her instead of looking away. From that day on, Yuki considered Airi her closest friend. When Airi later invited her to join Higanbana, Yuki accepted without hesitation. Within the group, she finally found what she had been searching for her entire life: a place where she belonged, people who accepted her without question, and a family she had never truly known.Despite finding a home, one dream still remained.Yuki longed to discover the identity of the father she had never met. The only clue she possessed was the platinum ring with its striking ruby, the same ring her mother had stolen from Hōryūin Shiki all those years ago. After learning that it belonged to her father, Yuki secretly took it from her mother, believing that one day it might lead her to the truth. When Airi learned of her friend's wish, she made a promise. No matter how long it took, they would find him together.

ʙᴀᴄᴋꜱᴛᴏʀʏIchinose Kazuha was born to Ichinose Keichi and Irina Volkova, a former Soviet spy who had once served the KGB under the callsign Snegurochka. During one of her operations in Japan, Irina was captured by men affiliated with the Dojima Family. Rather than being executed, she was forced into prostitution, her body left permanently crippled after years of abuse. Unable to escape or even care for herself, she poured everything she had left into raising her son.
From the time he could walk, Irina taught Kazuha everything the KGB had once taught her. Observation, discipline, deception, survival, and patience became part of his everyday life. She believed those skills would one day set him free. Her wish was simple, though born from years of suffering: she wanted Kazuha to kill his father, Keichi, so that the two of them could leave Japan forever and begin a new life.
That dream died with her.
When Kazuha was around ten years old, Irina passed away, leaving him alone in the world.
Not long afterward, Keichi saw an opportunity to advance within the Dojima Family. Hoping to earn Sohei Dojima's favor, he offered his own son as a playmate for Daigo Dojima, even going as far as having Kazuha transferred into Daigo's class so the two would spend every day together.
At first, Daigo wanted nothing to do with him.
Kazuha, however, had little choice. He followed Daigo everywhere, doing exactly what his father expected of him.
Everything changed the day someone attempted to kidnap Daigo.
Without hesitation, Kazuha intervened, killing the attacker before he could escape with the young heir. When he safely brought Daigo home, he expected relief.
Instead, Sohei barely acknowledged what had happened.
Watching Daigo's own father show so little concern made Kazuha realize something neither of them had ever put into words.
They were the same.
Both had grown up under fathers who had hurt the women they loved most. Both had learned that blood alone did not make someone worthy of being called family.
From that day onward, the distance between them disappeared.
What began as an arranged friendship slowly became brotherhood.
Yayoi Dojima welcomed Kazuha with warmth he had never known before, treating him as though he were another son. For the first time since losing his mother, he found a place where he genuinely belonged.
That fragile sense of belonging did not last.
At the age of twelve, Keichi forced Kazuha to formally join the Dojima Family, seeing his own son as nothing more than another stepping stone toward his ambitions. Both Daigo and Yayoi were horrified. They knew exactly what kind of life awaited him and pleaded for Keichi to reconsider, but their objections fell on deaf ears.
Kazuha himself was never given a choice.
Once again, his future was decided for him.
Even so, he refused to fall prey to rage. If this was the path forced upon him, then he would walk it with his head held high, determined to become someone who could protect the people he cared about rather than another man who ruled through fear.
Three years later, his talent caught the attention of Kazama Shintaro.
Recognizing both his intelligence and unwavering loyalty, Kazama personally took Kazuha under his wing. He began training him with the hope that one day he would become one of the founding members of Kiryu Kazuma's own family.
During his final year of high school, Kazuha and Daigo found themselves at the center of a massive fight between rival schools after stepping in to protect members of their baseball team. The incident landed both boys in juvenile detention. Even there, they distinguished themselves, graduating with exemplary records before returning to civilian life.
Upon his release, rumors began spreading that Kiryu would soon receive permission to establish a family of his own within the Tojo Clan. Kazuha eagerly awaited the day he could finally serve under the man he respected above all others. One he revered and saw as an older brother.
Fate had other plans.
When Kiryu took responsibility for Dojima's murder in 1995 and was sentenced to prison, Kazama instead welcomed Kazuha into the Kazama Family. Although he could have transferred him to the newly formed Nishikiyama Family the following year, Kazama believed doing so would squander Kazuha's potential. He chose to keep him at his side instead.
By 2005, Kazuha had become Kazama's lieutenant advisor while also handling important work for the Nikkyo Consortium. Throughout the conflict surrounding the ten billion yen and the succession issue, he stood firmly beside both Kazama and Kiryu, doing everything in his power to preserve the future of the Tojo Clan.
When the dust settled and Kiryu chose to step down as chairman, Kazuha was one of the few people who openly supported his decision. While many questioned Kiryu's choice, Kazuha understood it. The only thing he could never bring himself to trust was Terada's appointment as the Fifth Chairman, believing from the beginning that placing the clan in his hands would lead to disaster.
The following year brought another painful reunion.
After spending years in prison, Daigo finally returned. Kazuha had spent those years believing his oldest friend no longer trusted him. When Daigo had been framed by Ryuji Goda, he had deliberately kept Kazuha in the dark to protect him, but Kazuha could only see the silence as betrayal. Their relationship, once unbreakable, had become distant.
Daigo only made matters worse by pushing Kazuha away after his release, determined to leave the yakuza world behind.
It was Kiryu who finally forced the two to confront what neither had been willing to say.
The misunderstanding that had separated them for years was finally laid to rest, allowing them to rebuild the bond they had shared since childhood.
When Daigo accepted the role of Sixth Chairman of the Tojo Clan, Kazuha became his closest advisor and most trusted right-hand man. Through every crisis, every betrayal, and every sacrifice that followed, he remained at Daigo's side without hesitation. Even after the great dissolution of the Tojo Clan in 2019, his loyalty never wavered.
Today, Kazuha continues to stand beside Daigo, Majima, and Saejima as they work to help former yakuza build honest lives after the fall of the old underworld. Whenever time allows, he can also be found quietly visiting Kiryu in the hospital.
Though the Tojo Clan itself has become a part of history, Kazuha still lives by the lesson that shaped his entire life.
Family is not decided by blood.
It is decided by the people who choose to stand beside you when everyone else walks away.

ʙᴀᴄᴋꜱᴛᴏʀʏAmon Mana is the eldest daughter of Amon So, and the older aunt of both Airi and Marin. Known throughout the underworld as the “Thousand Faced Amon,” Mana is a notorious spy-assassin whose specialty lies in something far more terrifying than simply killing people: becoming them.Mana is an expert in disguises, acting, and impersonation, possessing an almost unsettling ability to study another person's mannerisms, speech patterns, posture, and behavior until she can reproduce them with frightening accuracy. Her mastery of her own voice allows her to imitate practically any voice she hears, while her knowledge of technology and craftsmanship means even physical differences can be overcome when necessary. Children are naturally beyond her reach for obvious reasons, but impersonating a grown man is hardly an obstacle when Mana has the resources to make the disguise convincing.Despite her reputation, Mana has never been particularly fond of the Amon clan itself. She found its traditions increasingly dull over the years, with its rigid gender rules being among her biggest grievances. The idea that men could only kill men and women could only kill women always struck her as needlessly restrictive.Mana has always been a free-spirited woman, rarely caring what her father or brother thought of her choices. The only member of her family she ever truly pitied was her younger sister Noa, whom she saw as having been completely brainwashed by the very traditions she had long since rejected.Marin's exile was ultimately what allowed Mana to sever her remaining ties to the Amon clan. Rather than remaining bound to its rules, she began living entirely by her own terms, secretly sending money to both Marin and Airi to support them from afar.In 2017, Airi finally invited her to join Higanbana, an all-female group of fixers. Mana accepted without hesitation. After years of finding the Amon clan painfully predictable, she figured it was about time she did something fun.
